MY COLORIST REEL
(a work in progress)
Color Grading (otherwise known as color correction) had been a passion of mine ever since I found the video gain controls on old tape to tape system I first edited on. Otherwise boring shots could be transformed by playing with the color settings.
When I started playing with modern color grading technology, I found that one could do far more than simply change the look or feel of an image. Color Grading can create a unified palette for a film, change the focus of a shot, and control the way the eye moves along an image. The modern digital image is much closer to a painter’s canvas than a piece of film.
These projects have all been created with Apple’s Color and its predecessor Silicon Color’s Final Touch color grading suite. Apple’s Color provides a suite of high-end color grading tools previously only available in multi-million dollar systems. I have been using these tools on projects since 2004 and have 6 years experience on-lining and color grading projects of all shapes and sizes.
This reel is a work in progress and puts together features, shorts, full length documentaries, short documentaries and television work.
Technical Note: This video requires Quicktime 7 or later to view properly.
COLOR REEL
2/16/10
Quick Note:
Computer Monitors, Operating systems, and even web-browsers can have vastly different color profiles, and can severely affect the look of a video, please keep that in mind when evaluating the reel.
